Saint John Paul the Great

This past Tuesday was our Pope Party to celebrate the canonization of Pope's John XXIII and John Paul II.  The end of the year, especially during May, its common to see a drop off in attendance at youth nights. That didn't happen last night. As many know I was blessed represent our parish and go on pilgrimage to celebrate the canonization Mass in Rome.  Last week my wife Emily, daughter Gianna and I had the amazing opportunity to attend the canonization Mass.  For Emily and I, the gift of the papacy and especially that of Pope John Paul II, has been one of the richest sources of grace, truth and love that we’ve received in our lives as young Catholics.

Servants Team

20142015 servants team tshirt

"Just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve..." Matthew 20:28

“I sense that the moment has come to commit all the Church’s energies to a new evangelization...No believer in Christ, no institution of the Church can avoid this supreme duty: to proclaim Christ to all peoples.”   JPII, Redemptoris Missio

The Servants Team of the New Evangelization is the group of high school leaders in St. Patrick's youth ministry who have made formal commitments to leadership, evangelization and discipleship.  The Holy Spirit IS guiding the Church through the inspiring example of our Holy Father Pope Francis who is showing us every day what it means to be a servant leader.  The Servants Team seeks to carry out their ministry through the example, teachings and guidance of Pope Francis.

The Responsibilities of the Servants Team are

Commitment to personal relationship with our Lord Jesus & His Church through prayer, community and accountability.

Being the CORE team for the Junior High Youth Ministry (every second Thursday + Retreats)

Witnessing to our peers in the high school youth ministry of our life changing Encounters with Christ.

Attending the Catholic Leadership Conference September 8-10th at Damascus.

We are looking for incoming Sophomores through Seniors of varying personalities (not just extroverts) who simply desire to go to the next level in their call to leadership, discipeship and evangelization. In a world where so many commitments compete for your time, what defines a saint is he or she who prioritizes their time in service to Jesus Christ and His Church.  Consider joining this incredible team!

The Beauty of Silence

"He got up, ate, and drank; then strengthened by that food, he walked forty days and forty nights to the mountain of God, Horeb. There he came to a cave, where he took shelter. But the word of the LORD came to him: Why are you here, Elijah? He answered: “I have been most zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts, but the Israelites have forsaken your covenant. They have destroyed your altars and murdered your prophets by the sword. I alone remain, and they seek to take my life.”  Then the LORD said: Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD; the LORD will pass by. There was a strong and violent wind rending the mountains and crushing rocks before the LORD—but the LORD was not in the wind; after the wind, an earthquake—but the LORD was not in the earthquake; after the earthquake, fire—but the LORD was not in the fire; after the fire, a light silent sound. When he heard this, Elijah hid his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. A voice said to him, Why are you here, Elijah?" (1 Kings 19: 8-13)

Last night on April 15th was truly one of most incredible nights I've experienced here at St. Patrick's.

Welcome to St Patrick Youth Ministry!

USNati2Welcome to St. Patrick’s Youth Ministry!  Jesus tells us, “I came so that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).  That is the purpose of St. Patrick’s apostolate to our wonderful young men and women.  Not only do I expect great things from you, but I know you will be leaven for the New Evangelization in the Diocese of Columbus.  Saint Dominic founded the Order of Preachers to proclaim the Truth, Who is Christ.  The reality is that God made each of you to flourish in joy both in this world and the next.  Let us live life to the full and proclaim that Truth!
